Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Overview
Annapurna Base Camp 12 Days is one of the most rewarding natural adventures in Nepal and is considered a classic Himalayan trek. This journey takes you through diverse terrain, rich culture, and stunning flora and fauna of the Annapurna region. Starting from Pokhara at 890 meters, the trail gradually ascends through beautiful villages and forests until reaching the magnificent Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters. As the altitude increases, the scenery transforms dramatically — from the urban charm of Pokhara to lush green hills, terraced farms, and traditional mountain settlements. Within just a few hours of driving from Pokhara, concrete buildings give way to stone houses surrounded by nature. The trek offers spectacular Himalayan panoramas from viewpoints like Poon Hill (3,210m) and Annapurna Base Camp. Throughout the journey, you will witness iconic peaks including Annapurna I (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Hiunchuli, and Gangapurna. Beyond natural beauty, the region is culturally rich and home to ethnic communities such as Gurung, Thakali, and Magar. These communities preserve their traditions, lifestyle, dress, cuisine, and heritage. Visitors can observe authentic village life and even participate in local celebrations. The route follows a scenic clockwise trail beginning from Pokhara, heading towards Poon Hill via Hile and Ghorepani, continuing through Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Himalaya, and finally reaching Annapurna Base Camp. The descent passes through Bamboo, Jhinu Danda, Pothana, and Phedi. The journey transitions from tropical to alpine climate zones, offering varied landscapes and ecosystems. The cost of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Sherpa Walk is USD $1000 per person, with flexible itinerary options available.
